Elgar Room, Royal Albert Hall, London, London, United Kingdom
Reykjavík-based pianist and composer Eydís Evensen will perform music from her debut album Bylur, live in the Elgar Room.
Bylur is the first record released on Sony Masterworks’ new imprint XXIM Records, which focuses on innovative and progressive instrumental music from around the world. Eydís has also been championed by The Line of Best Fit, who featured her in their prestigious Ones to Watch 2021.
A classically-trained pianist and post-classical composer, Eydís has also sung in the world-renowned choir run by Þorgerður Ingólfsdóttir, which counts Björk and members of Sigur Rós among former members.
Eydís is profoundly inspired by forces of nature as well as artists such as Philip Glass and Thom Yorke. But the real driving force behind her mournful, melancholic and incredibly beautiful arrangements are her own emotions, which often allow her to break free from regular forms of music.
