Peckham Palms, Units 1-10, Bournemouth Close, London, London, United Kingdom
The Hair Appointment is an exhibition which speaks directly to the culture of black hair and the magic it is.
The original concept by Toronto based creative agency, Sunday School, comprising of Josef Adamu and photographer Jeremy Rodney-Hall, was intended to be a photo series but it evolved and eventually made its debut in New York in September 2018 as an interactive gallery experience. On opening, The Hair Appointment was well received, and its socio-political importance has since been recognised by global audiences, as well as by broadcasters and journalists including iD, CNN Africa, ELLE, Essence and the Daily Mail.
On the 17th August the Hair Appointment experience makes its UK premiere at Peckham Palms. The event will include the exhibition and an artist showcase provided by Favour Johnson, Kione Grandison, Tolu Oye and Jade Adeyemi. There will be poetry entry by Lanaire aka 'Verse Writer'.
There will also be hair braiding and talks and demonstrations throughout the evening.
