A Mile in My Shoes: Migration

Migration Museum at The Workshop, London, London, United Kingdom

Thursday, February 8, 2018 - 11:00 to Sunday, February 25, 2018 - 17:30

A new version of the Empathy Museum’s acclaimed immersive exhibit A Mile in My Shoes will open in a giant shoe box in south London, bringing together 20 new audio stories from refugees and migrants who have made London their home.

A Mile in My Shoes: Migration will invite visitors to go on a physical and empathetic journey by walking a mile in someone else’s shoes – literally - while listening to their story. The collection of stories brings together a diversity of voices not normally heard in relation to migration.

Storytellers include Ammar, a Syrian who first arrived in the UK at Victoria station concealed in a suitcase; 92 year-old Alan, a Jamaican who came to England during WWII to volunteer in the army before forming a hit calypso band; and Meghan, from Uganda who fled the country separately from her partner and spent months searching for her in London.
