Power in Numbers - part of Change the Age/nda at Tate Exchange

Tate Modern, London, London, United Kingdom

Saturday, April 4, 2020 - 14:00 to 16:45

Studio 3 Arts, Guild of Experience & Melody Encore Choir

Saturday 4th April, 2pm - 2:40pm and 4pm - 4:40pm

Melody Encore is an intergenerational, mixed singing collective, who meet weekly in Vicarage Field Shopping Centre in Barking, East London. Formed under a year ago, the collective is open to anyone who wants to try something new, rekindle an old passion, de-stress after work or belt out a banger.

Melody Encore is collaborating with the Guild of Experience programme, which puts people over 55 in Barking & Dagenham in the creative driving seat; commissioning, producing and making work that is relevant to the lives of older people. The Guild of Experience forms part of the Arts Council's Celebrating Age programme and will culminate in a festival that you are all welcome to attend in Barking & Dagenham in October 2020.

The Guild of Experience and Melody Encore projects are both created and delivered by Studio 3 Arts. We have been championing creativity across Barking & Dagenham and East London for 33 years. We use art in all its forms to create conversations, build lasting relationships and celebrate community. It's the people that make our projects successful.

We are excited to be part of the Change the Age/nda at Tate Exchange programme with Flourishing Lives and invite members of the public to join us in an informal workshop with members of Singing with Friends and share in the joy of singing with us.

Change the Age/nda is a community arts exchange that hopes to put stereotypes of ageing in the past. It will explore the balance of personal and political power between the different generations, and celebrate the role that art can play in bringing us all closer together.
