RIVERS OF THE WORLD

With SEND Schools

Since its creation in 2005, Rivers of the World has been delivered in thirty-five countries around the world. This is an international art and education project delivered in partnership with the British Council that connects pupils around the globe to their local river through environmental, economic and cultural learning themes.

Coventry City of Culture Trust, the Thames Festival Trust with support from Open Theatre will be working with eight Special Needs Schools in Coventry and their students to celebrate and re-engage with Coventry’s historic River Sherbourne. As part of the project, the Coventry schools will collaborate with teachers and students in Tanzania, in an international exchange that began when three Tanzanian artists visited Coventry in March 2020.

Students will work with two local artists, Colin Yates and Amanda Randell, trained by lead artist Shona Watt, to create beautiful river-inspired artwork, which is displayed in exhibitions around the world.
