Hundreds of museums, galleries, theatres, libraries and heritage attractions across the UK are joining the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to celebrate 400 years of Shakespeare's legacy during Shakespeare Week 14-20 March 2016.
Shakespeare Week is the nationwide annual celebration organised by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust to give primary school children a great first encounter with Shakespeare – his characters, stories and language. Shakespeare Week in 2016 will shine a spotlight on Shakespeare around the UK in the year that celebrates 400 years of the playwright’s legacy, and the Trust is encouraging organisations of all kinds; from libraries to football clubs, art galleries, theatres and historic attractions to join the campaign and celebrate Shakespeare in their communities.
Shakespeare Week is a free scheme for primary school children and their families, run by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. With emphasis on fun and engaging activities, Shakespeare Week has so far reached more than a million and a half children in over 7,800 primary schools in the UK since its launch in 2014.
