HeadStart is a series of creative courses with a focus on learning new skills, using these to improve well-being, confidence and develop peer networks and is aimed at young people aged 10 - 16.
It is targeted at young people who may be experiencing emerging mental health problems. Whether that is anxiety & stress, feeling overwhelmed at school or feeling like they are lonely, our fun and hands-on activities will be delivered to help build resilience among Newham’s young people. Delivered by specialists in their field, the creative activities include: film, digital art & animation, spoken word & creative writing, and arts and crafts. These activities are used as a tool to help facilitate conversations, build friendships and teach young people how to positively express themselves. Activities take place after school in local community settings and are a great way to learn exciting new skills and meet new people.
Over six weeks, focus on learning how to use pencils, charcoal and pastels to represent the world around us. Learn a wide range of different arts and crafts skills and produce pieces you can take home with you! No previous experience necessary and all abilities welcome.
Courses run throughout the year including the Summer Holidays. Get in touch to find out more!
