SCANDINAVIAN PREMIERE. Co-commissioned by Manchester International Festival and European Capital of Culture Aarhus 2017. Created by Yael BartanaDr Strangelove’s war room has been abandoned: crumbling and overgrown. His sexist prophecy of a surviving nucleus of male leaders repopulating the earth, with an initial ratio of ten women to each man, is the inspiration to imagine a reverse scenario: What if women ruled the world? In this new theatre and film project by acclaimed artist Yael Bartana, as the clock ticks in the war room, a group of women and two men will engage in experimental decision-making.Addressing a new emergency scenario every day – for instance issues of security and defence, the movement of peoples – six leading actors will be joined for each session by a different group of experts. Female scientists, politicians, thinkers, movers and shakers of global reputation will spend an evening in Dr Strangelove’s war room trying to solve the emergency before it’s too late.
