The 47th Hong Kong Arts Festival puts Pippo Delbono's 'La Gioia' centre stage on 22–23 March 2019

Acclaimed Italian theatre director Pippo Delbono opens his "theatrical ode to joy, surprise and enchantment", La Gioia, at Hong Kong Arts Festival on 22–23 March 2019.

La Gioia highlights the consequences of living without understanding. It brings anguish and ecstasy to the stage, accompanied by paper boats, flamenco dance, flowers by the thousand and a circus parade.

Delbono is described as one of Europe's most distinctive artistic voices, in the firmament of Pasolini, Beckett, Bausch and Kantor.

Delbono's unique company joins professional actors with non-professional performers from the margins of society. His production La Gioia is an 80-minute journey of surprise and enchantment. Embracing extreme feelings and the pain of the world, Delbono and his cast show us who we really are through ‘joy’.

Now in its 47th edition, the Hong Kong Arts Festival takes place on 21–23 March 2019, fulfilling its annual role of enriching the cultural life of the city.
