Five chosen for Hepworth biennial sculpture prize

The second edition of the Hepworth Prize for Sculpture will see £30,000 awarded to one of five British or UK-based artists who "has made a significant contribution to the development of contemporary sculpture".

The biennial prize, started in 2016, will begin with an exhibition of the five chosen works in October 2018. The shortlisted artists are:

  • Michael Dean
  • Cerith Wyn Evans
  • Mona Hatoum
  • Phillip Lai
  • Magali Reus

The Hepworth Prize for Sculpture is another high-profile example of cultural and creative events taking place across the North this year, with significant visual arts events including Liverpool Biennial 2018 and the Great Exhibition of the North's Great Art Trail.
