The Culture Diary and Arts Council England is taking a delegation of visual arts leaders and emerging designers from across the UK to Hong Kong next month from 2–7 December. The mission takes place at Business of Design Week and is a direct result of working with a number of Culture Diary members eager to expand their creative and cultural practices internationally. The mission will work with the Department for International Trade and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office via the GREAT Britain Campaign.
15 key visual arts representatives and 10 designers have been handpicked and will join talks, workshops and events. The delegation will also take day trips to Macau and Shenzhen to explore the creative scenes there. Three UK performances will take place at the opening BODW Gala Dinner on 4 December, including Company Wayne McGregor and UK champion beatboxer, Reeps One.
Delegates will organise their own meetings with programmers, venue owners and peers in the Hong Kong creative industries while there, and look to build on relationships and open up opportunities to tour their work and collaborate with international organisations.
If you're interested in future government-sponsored international missions, make sure to register and use the Culture Diary regularly so we know where you are touring and what you are working on. We are always looking for grassroots and SME-level organisations, artists and companies looking to promote their work under the banner of UK culture and creativity. You'll find out the latest first through the Culture Diary, our social media channels and the monthly newsletter.
