In 2014, the completely DIY book/musical/art/merchandising project by Kathy DiTondo called "I Was a Teenage Guitarist 4 the Clash" which recalled the mid 1970s cultural big bang involving DIY artists, musicians, publishers, designers, merchants, writers and other creators of independent content which emerged from the streets of London and went global was brought to market.
In a tip of the hat to the DIY ethic recalled in the book "I Was a Teenage Guitarist 4 the Clash!" of the birth of the seminal British band the Clash and the British punk rock movement, the 2014 project was pulled off completely independently.
Each step of the way - from product research and development to financing to marketing and public relations to creation to development of customer base to sales to distribution - was accomplished totally DIY.
Every page of the book "I Was a Teenage Guitarist 4 the Clash!" was typed and printed by the author and was bound by shoe strings. Each book came with a unique custom artistic cover (pictured above). The book has also been available as a download on Amazon since 2014 here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W42NLK8/ref=rdr_kindle_ext_tmbNow: the film "I Was a Teenage Guitarist 4 the Clash!" adhereing to the aforementioned methodology and processes is in production, with a targeted delivery date of 2021.
