Latest Ambition for Excellence funding goes to heavy metal, public spaces and ballet

Arts Council is giving £1.95 million to three UK culture organisations for their latest round of Ambition for Excellence.

Site Gallery, Northern Ballet, and Capsule will use the funding on ambitious projects to "develop creative talent in the cities, build strong partnerships and showcase the arts on an international stage".

Site Gallery (Sheffield)

They receive £750,000 for City of Ideas, a programme connecting artists, young people, technologists and academics to help develop new approaches to art and culture in public spaces.

Northern Ballet (Leeds)

The world-renowned ballet company will receive £750,000 towards the creation of the Leeds Dance Partnership, intended to bring together organisations to raise the profile of Leeds' dance companies and activities.

Capsule (Birmingham)

"Cultural alchemist" Capsule will get £450,000 for Home of Metal, a three-year international programme to engage and celebrate fans of pioneering Birmingham metal band Black Sabbath, telling the band's story from a global perspective.
