SXSW 2020 bands perform British Music Embassy live sessions after festival cancellation

PRS for Music has gathered UK musicians set to play the cancelled SXSW 2020 in Austin, Texas to record the British Music Embassy sessions. These sessions be shared online for everyone to watch. Look out for updates on social media with the #BMESessions. Edit (26/03/20): the British Music Embassy sessions are now available on BBC Introducing's YouTube page or you can watch below.

The annual music, film and interactive festival was cancelled due to COVID-19 concerns in early March leaving bands and musicians unable to play and losing out on money committed to travel, visas and preparations.

The British Music Embassy is the official UK presence at SXSW for British music programming, with some of these artists due to be part of that official programme.

The live sessions were recorded on 16-17 March and are supported by the Association for Independent Music (AIM), the BPI, PPL and PRS Foundation.

Featured artists are:

  • Aaron Smith
  • Arlo Parks
  • Bess Atwell
  • Jordan Mackampa
  • Kokoroko
  • Liz Lawrence
  • Porridge Radio
  • Steam Down

and more to be announced. More information here.
