The UK is third out of 60 countries in a new Global Soft Power report by Brand Finance, with the US and Germany first and second respectively. You can download the report here.
PA Media reported, ahead of the official report launch at the QEII on 25 February, that "the UK also ranked in the top three for culture and heritage, noted for its influence in arts and entertainment, as well as for having a rich history. An allure of Britishness and British culture was also seen as driving popular period drama such as ITV’s Downton Abbey and Netflix’s The Crown."
The launch included a speech by Ban Ki-Moon, former Secretary-General of the United Nations. He said: "Soft power builds bridges for peaceful, inclusive, resilient societies."
