Fifty years since the death of film and theatre icon Vivien Leigh, Sotheby's is to host an exhibition of intimate and previously unseen photographs shot by eminent society photographer, costume designer, and long-standing friend Cecil Beaton.
Winner of this year’s “It’s Art Call” competition, Manchester-based artist Ian Rayer-Smith has been invited to exhibit new paintings and sculptures at D Contemporary Gallery, Grafton Street, Mayfair, from 30 August to 9 September.
Strongly influenced by the work of the abstract expressionists and the romantic light of the old masters, Ian Rayer-Smith’s paintings effortlessly fuse abstraction, the figurative and the surreal.
Henry Miller Fine Art presents Leopardi’s Dream, an exhibition of engravings by the late Francis West, at the Coningsby Gallery, Fitzrovia, from 25 September to 7 October 2017.
Curated by Henry Miller and Jenny West, Leopardi’s Dream features brand new editions of engravings from 1979 and 1999, some of which have never been seen in public before,
alongside original drawings and paintings.

Sotheby’s has launched an annual prize to support and encourage ground-breaking, thought-provoking exhibitions and curatorial initiatives. Extending up to a maximum value of $250,000, the grant will be available to institutions, curators and museum directors with ambitions to realise trailblazing, potentially landscape-changing, projects in the cultural field.
Tate has announced its 2018 season across four of its galleries. Exhibitions by ground-breaking figures in painting, performance, textiles, film and photography include Picasso, Egon Schiele, Virginia Woolf and more, as well as the annual Hyundai Commission for the Turbine Hall at the Tate Modern.
